La Columbia ammarò nell'Oceano Pacifico e fu recuperata dalla portaerei USS Hornet.

On July 24, eight days after the departure, the adventure of the first men who set foot on the Moon ended - or better, after another 21 days of quarantine to make sure they weren't infected with lunar bugs... Columbia landed in the Pacific Ocean and was recovered by the USS Hornet aircraft carrier.
