Lo studio è stato fatto negli Stati Uniti, ma ritengo che in Europa la situazione non sia molto diversa... tra il 1996 e il 2015 sono stati distrutti circa 115.000 km2 di foresta canadese per la produzione della carta igienica utlilzzata negli Stati Uniti - più di 1/3 della superficie dell'Italia... Questo causa la perdita non solo di alberi, ma anche di habitat per numerose specie animali e per popolazioni indigene.
E, al momento, solo piccoli produttori cercano di utilizzare materiali diversi, come paglia o bambù, che hanno un minor impatto ambientale...
