Perché tutto questo interesse? Venere è stata meta di missioni in passato, ma i primi dati che ne indicavano le condizioni estreme hanno smorzato l'entusiasmo; ora però ci sono strumenti migliori, capaci di resistere più a lungo nell'atmesfera bollente e corrosiva del pianeta, e in molti sono interessati a capire come un pianeta che un tempo era probabilmente rigoglioso come la Terra si sia trasformato in ciò che è oggi...

Venus was the destination of missions in the past, but the first data that indicated its extreme conditions dampened enthusiasm; now, however, there are far better instruments, able to withstand the planet's hot and corrosive atmosphere for longer, and many are interested in understanding how a planet that was once as prosperous as the Earth has turned into what it is today...
...also to better understand how the numerous exoplanets discovered could be!
