Lo stesso Darwin si chiedeva come fosse possibile che le barriere coralline avessero abbastanza cibo, considerando che le acque che le circondano sono povere di plancton microscopico... ora il mistero sembra essere stato risolto da un gruppo di scienziati che ha scoperto che c'è una grande quantità di piccolissimi pesci criptobentonici che vivono nascosti in mezzo ai coralli, senza mostrarsi troppo, e che, quando muoiono, potrebbero rappresentare circa il 60% del totale del cibo consumato dalla barriera...
