Eating Away Plastic

Un gruppo di scienziati ha studiato dei rifiuti plastici immersi in acqua salmastra ed ha scoperto che esistono batteri che degradano la plastica demolendone lo scheletro di carbonio, e che tali batteri si possono ingenierizzare per renderli ancora più efficienti... Servono sicuramente ulteriori indagini, ma forse c'è una soluzione per i rifiuti plastici che ammorbano gli oceani...

A group of scientists studied plastic waste immersed in saline water and discovered that there are bacteria that degrade the plastic by demolishing its carbon skeleton and that these bacteria can be engineered to make them even more efficient... There is certainly a need for further investigations, but perhaps there is a solution for the plastic waste that pollutes the oceans...
