Qual è la prima molecola che si è formata nell'Universo? Gli scienziati pensano che sia stato l'idruro di elio, formatosi appena 100.000 anni dopo il Big Bang... Peccato che non sia mai stata trovata traccia di questo composto... finora!
Infatti l'Osservatorio Stratosferico per l'Astronomia ad Infrarossi (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, o SOFIA) ha rilevato per la prima volta tracce di idruro di elio nella nostra galassia, in una nebulosa planetaria chiamata NGC 7027, a soli 3.000 anni luce da noi.
Questo sembra provare che le ipotesi formulate finora sulla chimica dei primi momenti dell'Universo siano corrette...

In fact, the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) has detected for the first time traces of helium hydride in our galaxy, in a planetary nebula called NGC 7027, just 3,000 light years from us.
This seems to prove that the hypotheses formulated so far about the chemistry of the first moments of the Universe are correct...
