La sonda spaziale OSIRIS-REx, durante la fase di studio dell'asteroide Bennu preventiva all'atterraggio ed al prelievo di un campione da riportare sulla Terra, ha effettuato due importanti scoperte: la prima è che la superficie dell'asteroide è molto più sconnessa di quanto calcolato basandosi sui dati osservati dalla Terra, e ciò permetterà di migliorare gli algoritmi di analisi anche se richiederà molta più attenzione nella fase di atterraggio; la seconda scoperta, per ora senza spiegazione, è che l'asteroide espelle di tanto in tanto particelle nello spazio...
The OSIRIS-REx space probe, during the study phase of the asteroid Bennu before landing and collecting a sample to be brought back to Earth, made two important discoveries: the first is that the surface of the asteroid is much more rough of what has been calculated based on the data observed from the Earth, and this will allow improving the analysis algorithms even if it will require much more attention in the landing phase; the second discovery, without explanation for the moment, is that the asteroid occasionally eject particles in space...
