Falso: un nuovo studio mostra che nuovi neuroni si formano anche nel cervello di persone anziane, seppure in numero sempre minore con l'avanzare dell'età (parliamo comunque di migliaia di nuovi neuroni). Il numero diminuisce invece drasticamente negli individui affetti dal morbo di Alzheimer, e lo studio del motivo per cui diminuiscono potrebbe aiutare a capire meglio la malattia...
No more new cells are formed in the brain after adolescence ... False: a new study shows that new neurons are formed also in the brains of elderly people, although in ever decreasing numbers as we age (anyhow, we are talking about thousands of new neurons). Instead, the number drastically decreases in individuals suffering from Alzheimer's disease, and the study of why they decrease could help to better understand the disease...
