Il lander InSight ha deposto il primo strumento (dovrà depositarne due) sul suolo marziano: il braccio robotico ha depositato il sismografo a circa 1,6 m di distanza. Ora saranno necessari dei piccoli aggiustamenti prima di verificare che la trasmissione dei dati funzioni, poi lo strumento sarà coperto da una calotta che lo isolerà da venti e variazioni di temperatura che potrebbero falsare le letture... solo allora comincerà a registrare i martemoti che avverranno e a rimandare i dati...
Poi sarà la volta del secondo strumento, un sensore di temperatura...
The InSight lander has laid down the first instrument (it will have to deposit two) on the Martian soil: the robotic arm deposited the seismograph about 5.3 feet away. Now some minor adjustments will be needed before verifying that the data transmission works, then the instrument will be covered by a cap that will isolate it from winds and temperature variations that could distort the readings... only then will it begin to register the marsquakes that will occur and to send back the data recorded...
Then it will be the turn of the second instrument, a temperature sensor...
