La sonda spaziale InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) della NASA si prepara all'atterraggio sul suolo marziano che avverrà lunedì 26 novembre.
Anche se già avvenuto in passato, il momento EDL (Entry, Descent and Landing - Ingresso, Discesa e Atterraggio) crea sempre ansia negli scienziati che lo seguono, tanto che lo chiamano "i sette minuti di terrore", perché la sonda deve passare da 19.800 kmh a 8 kmh in, appunto, 7 minuti!
InSight sarà la prima sonda a studiare il sottosuolo di Marte: ci permetterà di conoscerne le profondità...

Although already done in the past, EDL (Entry, Descent and Landing) always creates anxiety in the scientists who follow it, so much so that they call it "the seven minutes of terror" because the probe must decelerate from 12,300 mph to 5 mph in, precisely, 7 minutes!
InSight will be the first probe to study the subsoil of Mars: it will allow us to know its depths...
