In Cina è stato inaugurato il ponte marino più lungo del mondo, 55 km, che collega Zhuhai con Macao e Hong Kong. Costato circa 20 miliardi di dollari, permetterà di raggiungere Hong Kong da Zhuhai in circa 30 minuti, invece delle 3 ore necessarie oggi.
Il ponte ha causato molte polemiche, per il costo e perché non sarà aperto al publico, ma solo alcune categorie di persone potranno percorrerlo con mezzi privati; gli altri dovranno servirsi di servizi di autobus che trasporteranno i passeggeri da una parte all'altra...
Comunque, con un percorso che comprende due isole artificiali e un tunnel lungo 6,7 km, il ponte è un'opera di alta ingegneria...
The longest sea bridge in the world, 34-miles, has been inaugurated in China, connecting Zhuhai with Macao and Hong Kong. With a cost of about 20 billion dollars, it will allow reaching Hong Kong from Zhuhai in about 30 minutes, instead of the 3 hours needed today.
The bridge has caused much controversy, for the high cost and because it will not be open to the public, but only some categories of people will be able to drive on it with private vehicles; the others will have to use shuttle buses that will transport passengers from one side to the other...
However, with a course that includes two artificial islands and a 4 miles long tunnel, the bridge is a work of high engineering...
