Di 650 premi Nobel assegnati per discipline scientifiche dal 1901 al 2017, solo 18 sono andati a donne - meno del 3%... Questo ha spinto il comitato organizzatore a invitare coloro che suggeriscono i nomi dei candidati a considerare diversità di genere, geografia e argomenti con una richiesta specifica inserita nella lettera che viene loro spedita tutti gi anni.
