Con questa mappa sarà possibile individuare i geni responsabili di molte caratteristiche della pianta in maniera molto più semplice - il grano possiede un DNA che è pari a 5 volte quello umano, con sei copie di molti geni...
Sarà possibile sviluppare grano resistente ai parassiti, o con chicchi più grossi, o addirittura che scateni meno allergie...
The wheat genome map has just been published, thanks to the effort of the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium, a group of researchers from 20 different countries.
With this map it will be possible to identify the genes responsible for many characteristics of the plant in a much simpler way - the wheat has a DNA that is five times the size of the human one, with six copies of many genes...
It will be possible to develop wheat resistant to diseases, or with larger grains, or even that cause fewer allergies...
