Icarus

Grazie al telescopio spaziale Hubble è stato possibile scoprire la stella più lontana mai osservata finora: Icaro!
Icaro dista circa circa 9 miliardi di anni luce dalla Terra (la sua luce che arriva ora è partita 9 miliardi di anni fa...) e non sarebbe stata osservabile se non fosse stato per un effetto di lente gravitazionale, cioè per il fatto che un insieme di galassie a metà strada circa ha fatto da lente d'ingrandimento permettendone l'osservazione...

Thanks to the Hubble Space Telescope it was possible to discover the most distant star ever observed so far: Icarus!
Icarus is about 9 billion light years away from the Earth (its light that we see now left the star 9 billion years ago...) and would not have been observable had it not been for a gravitational lens effect, ie due to the fact that a cluster of galaxies about halfway acted as a magnifying glass allowing its observation...
