A New Organ?

Si può scoprire, oggi, un nuovo organo nel corpo umano? Sembrerebbe di sì, stando allo studio di ricercatori della Scuola di Medicina dell'Università di New York...
Hanno infatti evidenziato qualcosa di molto diffuso che è presente sotto la pelle, attorno ai vasi sanguigni, tra i muscoli e intorno all'intestino e ai polmoni e l'hanno chiamato "interstizio"; la ragione per cui non è mai stato evidenziato prima sta nel fatto che i campioni studiati al microscopio vengono disidratati durante la preparazione, e questo strato se perde l'acqua si affloscia, come un palloncino a cui si tolga l'aria, risultando quindi invisibile.
Un nuovo metodo di studio, l'endomicroscopia a laser confocale, che permette l'osservazione di tessuti in vivo ha consentito di individuarlo.
Si spera che lo studio di questo nuovo organo permetta di capire come alcune malattie, come per esempio il cancro, si diffondono nell'organismo...
