Water on an Exoplanet

Utilizzando dati dei telescopi spaziali Hubble and Spitzer, un team di scienziati ha scoperto che un esopianeta, WASP-39b, possiede molta più acqua di quanto si pensasse.
Dalle dimensioni simili a Saturno ma venti volte più vicino alla sua stella di quanto la Terra sia vicina al Sole, compie una rivoluzione in quattro giorni, e la sua temperatura raggiunge oltre 700°C...
Tuttavia si pensa che si sia formato molto più distante dalla stella, e abbia in seguito compiuto un movimento di avvicinamento: in questo modo l'acqua potrebbe essere dovuta ad un "bombardamento" da parte di oggetti ghiacciati...
