Anche se l'ibrido è sopravvissuto solo per 28 giorni, è un primo passo, importante, verso la creazione di ibridi uomo-animale - o chimere - che potranno fornire organi compatibili per l'uomo e utilizzabili in trapianti, permettendo così di salvare molte più persone di quanto sia possibile oggi, accorciando liste d'attesa che molto spesso vedono il paziente non riuscire ad arrivare al trapianto...
Ma la strada è ancora lunga...
A group of researchers has created a hybrid man-sheep. Although the hybrid has survived only for 28 days, it is an important first step towards the creation of man-animal hybrids - or chimeras - that will provide organs compatible with humans and usable in transplants, thus allowing to save many more people than is possible today, shortening waiting lists that very often see the patient failing to get to the transplant...
But it is still long way...
