A Twin for the Solar System

Grazie alla scoperta di un ottavo pianeta nel sistema Kepler-90, distante 2.545 anni luce dalla Terra, ora il sistema solare ha un gemello, anch'esso con 8 pianeti.
Il nuovo pianeta, Kepler-90i, è stato scoperto da un'intelligenza artificiale, che ha "imparato" ad individuare i pianeti grazie alla diminuzione di luminosità delle stelle davanti a cui passano durante le loro orbite: istruito con 15.000 segnali di esopianeti trovati in precedenza, è arrivato a riconoscerli con una probabilità del 96%!
Ci sono ora altri 35.000 segnali possibili da analizzare...

Thanks to the discovery of an eighth planet in the Kepler-90 system, 2,545 light years away from Earth, now the Solar System has a twin, also with 8 planets.
The new planet, Kepler-90i, was discovered by an artificial intelligence, which has "learned" to identify the planets thanks to the decrease in brightness of the stars in front of which they pass during their orbits: educated with 15,000 exoplanet signs found previously, it learned to recognize them with a 96% chance!
There are now another 35,000 possible signals to analyze...
