‘Oumuamua

‘Oumuamua è il nome di un asteroide un po' particolare: infatti è il primo oggetto rilevato proveniente da un altro sistema stellare!
Il suo nome ufficiale è asteroide interstellare 1I/2017 U1 e sembra che questo oggetto abbia vagato nella Via lattea per centinaia di milioni di anni, prima di incontrare il sistema solare...
Starà nel nostro sistema per ancora poco più di un anno, prima di lasciarlo e continuare il suo viaggio nello spazio aperto.
Una curiosità: il suo nome, ‘Oumuamua, deriva dal fatto che è stato scoperto dall'università delle Hawaii e significa “messaggero da lontano che arriva per primo”.

‘Oumuamua is the name of a very peculiar asteroid: in fact, it is the first object detected coming from another stellar system!
Its official name is interstellar asteroid 1I/2017 U1and it seems that this object had been wandering through the Milky Way for hundreds of millions of years before its chance encounter with our star system...
It will remain in our system for just over a year, before leaving it and continuing its journey into open space.
A curiosity: its name, ‘Oumuamua, comes from the fact that it was discovered by the University of Hawaii and means “a messenger from afar arriving first.”
