Xi

Il CERN ha annunciato la scoperta della particella Xi, della famiglia dei barioni (quella di protoni e neutroni). All'interno dell'esperimento LHCb svolto nel Large Hadron Collider si è identificata questa particella che, al contrario degli altri barioni, è composta di 2 quark pesanti ed 1 leggero; è la prima del suo genere, e la sua esistenza era stata teorizzata già da alcuni anni, ma non era stata mai osservata.
Xi potrà aiutarci a capire la forza forte, una delle quattro forze fondamentali della natura...

CERN announced the discovery of the Xi particle, part of the baryon family (the one including protons and neutrons). Within the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, this particle has been identified, which, unlike the other baryons, is composed of 2 heavy and 1 light quarks; it is the first of its kind, and its existence had been theorised for some years, but it was never observed.
Xi can help us understand the strong interaction, one of the four fundamental forces of nature...
