Nell'ammasso di galassie di Perseo, è stata identificata un'onda di gas caldo (circa 30 milioni di gradi Celsius), grande circa il doppio della Via Lattea, che si sta lentamente irradiando verso il centro dell'ammasso. Gli scenziati pensano che l'onda si sia formata miliardi di anni fa, quando un piccolo ammasso ha sfiorato Perseo e dato origine ad un'onda di Kelvin-Helmholtz (come quelle che causano le onde nel mare - solo un po' più grande...), che si sta espandendo ancora oggi...
Within the Perseus galaxy cluster, a wave of hot gas has been identified (around 54 million degrees Fahrenheit), that is twice as big as the Milky Way, and is slowly irradiating towards the centre of the cluster. Scientists believe that the wave formed billions of years ago when a small cluster grazed Perseus and gave rise to a Kelvin-Helmholtz wave (like those that cause waves in the sea - only a little larger...), which is still expanding today ...
