A Running Black Hole

L'osservatorio a raggi X Chandra, insieme ad altri telescopi, ha individuato un buco nero supermassivo in... fuga.
Si pensa che il fuggitivo si sia formato a seguito della fusione di due galassie, e quindi di due buchi neri supermassivi, che hanno dato origine ad un mostro che contiene circa 160 milioni di volte la massa del Sole. A seguito della fusione, il fuggitivo ha subito una spinta dovuta ad onde gravitazionali molto forti, che l'hanno spostato dal centro della galassia e l'hanno in qualche modo "sganciato".
Per fortuna che dista 3,9 miliardi di anni luce da noi...

Chandra X-ray Observatory and other telescopes identified a supermassive black hole... on the run.
Scientists believe that the fugitive was formed following the merger of two galaxies, and therefore two supermassive black holes, which gave rise to a monster that contains about 160 million times the mass of the Sun. Following the fusion, the fugitive underwent a thrust due to very strong gravitational waves, moving it from the centre of the galaxy and somehow "disconnecting" it.
Thankfully, it's 3.9 billion light years away from us...
