A New Moon

2007 OR10 è il terzo più grande pianeta nano del sistema solare, dopo Plutone e Eris.
Ora un team di scienziati ha scoperto, analizzando delle foto di Hubble del 2010, che intorno a 2007 OR10 c'è una luna! Il satellite dovrebbe avere un diametro compreso tra 240 e 400 km.
La scoperta è avvennuta a seguito dell'osservazione che 2007 OR10 ha un tempo di rotazione di 45 ore, molto più lento degli altri oggetti che stanno, come lui, nella fascia di Kuiper, e che hanno un tempo di rotazione inferiore alle 24 ore.
Quindi ora è confermato che tutti i pianeti nani, a parte Sedna, presentano satelliti...

2007 OR10 is the third largest dwarf planet in the Solar System, following Pluto and Eris.
Now a team of scientists has discovered, by analysing the Hubble's 2010 photos, that around 2007 OR10 there is a moon! The satellite should have a diameter between 150 and 250 miles.
The discovery came following the observation that 2007 OR10 has a 45-hour rotation time, much slower than other objects situated, like it, in the Kuiper Belt, and that have a rotation time of less than 24 hours.
So now it is confirmed that all dwarf planets, apart from Sedna, have satellites...
