Il Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter della NASA ha scattato un'immagine dell'area dove doveva atterrare la sonda Schiaparelli, identificando due differenze rispetto ad una immagine della stessa zona scattata lo scorso maggio. Il punto chiaro in basso potrebbe essere il paracadute, mentre la macchia scura in alto potrebbe essere il segno dell'impatto di Schiaparelli con il suolo marziano.
Il fatto che Schiaparelli è caduto senza sostegno da un'altezza di 2-4 km, potrebbe significare anche, nella peggiore delle ipotesi, che la sonda sia esplosa...

NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter took a picture of the area where the Schiaparelli lander was supposed to land, identifying two differences compared to an image of the same area taken last May. The bright spot in the bottom could be the parachute, while the dark spot at the top could be the mark of Schiaparelli impact with the Martian soil.
The fact that Schiaparelli fell without support from a height of 2-4 km, could also mean, at worst, that the probe is exploded...
