Impacted!

Dopo l'immagine a bassa risoluzione scattata la scorsa settimana dal MARS, ora è giunta anche un'immagine a risoluzione più alta della zona dell'impatto di Schiaparelli; in questa nuova immagine, si vedono chiaramente sia lo scudo anti calore frontale, che il paracadute che ha frenato il modulo nella prima fase della discesa.
Altrettanto chiaramente si vede il punto d'impatto, anche se rimangono alcuni dubbi su come sia successo, a causa della strana forma delle aree scure...

After the low resolution image taken last week by MARS, we now received also an image with a better resolution of the Schiaparelli impact area; in this new image, one can clearly see both the front heat shield, and the parachute that slowed the lander in the first phase of the descent.
Equally clearly one can see the impact point, although some doubts remain about how it happened, because of the odd shape of the dark areas...
