Fin dal 1500 le mappe, prima cartacee, poi elettroniche, sono sempre state molto importanti per tutti noi: ci aiutano a capire il mondo e ci guidano con sicurezza alla meta...
Peccato che nessuna sia giusta; a partire dalla più famosa, quella di Mercatore del 1500, fino alle più recenti, tutte soffrono, più o meno, del medesimo difetto: dover adattare ad una superficie piana ciò che piano non è, perché è una sfera (o meglio, un geoide).
Ma tant'è, bisogna accontentarsi...
Since 1500 maps, initially made of paper, then electronic, have always been very important for everybody: they help us to understand the world and guide us safely to the destination...
Regrettably, none is right; starting with the most famous, that of Mercator in 1500, until the most recent, all suffer, more or less, of the same flaw: having to adapt to a flat surface what is not flat, because it is a sphere (or rather, a geoid).
But whatever, we have to settle...
