Le Blazar (dall'inglese: blazing quasi-stellar object) sono sono galassie "attivate" da buchi neri grandi milioni di volte il nostro sole; a causa del materiale che cade in questi buchi neri supermassicci, si generano due getti di materia che fuoriescono dal centro alla velocità della luce, sperdendosi nello spazio e generando una forte luminosità che caratterizza questi oggetti.
Un gruppo di ricercatori dell'Università di Torino e del Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics a Cambridge ha ora identificato una bizzarra correlazione tra le emissioni dei blazer nell'intervallo del medio infrarosso e quello dei raggi gamma, onde con valori energetici distanti un fattore 10 miliardi... ora dovranno capirne il significato e come questa scoperta potrà aiutarci a comprendere i buchi neri supermassicci...
The Blazars (blazing quasi-stellar object) are galaxies "activated" by big blacks holes measuring millions of times our sun; because of the material that falls into these supermassive blacks holes, two jets of matter are generated which escapes from the center outward at the speed of light, disappearing in space and generating a strong brightness that characterizes these objects.
A group of researchers at the University of Turin and at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge has now identified a bizarre correlation between blazers emissions in the range of mid-infrared colors and gamma rays, waves with energy values distant a factor of 10 billion... now they will have to understand what it means and how this discovery will help us understand the supermassive blacks holes...
