Icarus

Un progetto nato 15 anni fa dall'incontro tra un ornitologo del Max Planck Institute e un astronomo specializzato in radio telemetria... un sistema di etichette emettenti segnali radio, molto leggeri, che possano essere attaccati anche a animali migratori molto leggeri, ed i cui segnali verranno recepiti dalla ISS.
Un progetto per mappare migrazioni e spostamenti, per analizzare pattern di comportamento e trovare e seguire animali rari o rilasciati nell'ambiente naturale...
Un nuovo utilizzo addizionale della ISS...
Ci hanno messo 15 anni, ma ci sono riusciti :-)

A project born 15 years ago from the meeting of an ornithologist of the Max Planck Institute and an astronomer specialized in radio telemetry... a system of labels emitting radio signals, very light, that could also be attached to very light migratory animals, and whose they will be received by ISS.
A project to map migration and movements, to analyze patterns of behavior and to find and follow animals rare or released into the wild...
A new additional use of the ISS ...
It took them 15 years, but they did it :-)
