Si è così arrivati a 180 aree note e si spera che questo aiuterà nella comprensione e cura di malattie neurologiche, come autismo e schizofrenia; inoltre, questo studio ha probabilmente aperto la via a ulteriori studi che identifichino aree ancora più piccole, su cui operare con maggiore precisione...
Until yesterday, scientists were studying the brain using a map that identified 83 areas, developed 100 years ago... Today, researchers at Washington University identified 97 new areas, studying subjects while they were performing specific tasks and using next-generation MRI machines.
This brings us to 180 known areas and it is hoped that this will help in the understanding and treatment of neurological diseases such as autism and schizophrenia; furthermore, this study probably paved the way for further studies that will identify even smaller areas, on which to operate with greater precision...
