1906: questo è l'anno in cui la bottiglia fu rilasciata nel Mare del Nord, insieme a 1019 compagne che cominciarono il loro viaggio nei due anni precedenti.
È stata trovata in Germania all'inizio dell'anno e spedita alla Marine Biological Association nel Regno Unito, come indicato nelle istruzioni contenute.
La MBA è pure riuscita a trovare su eBay uno scellino dell'epoca ed a spedirlo come ricompensa, come indicato nel foglio contenuto nella bottiglia...
Per ora è il più vecchio messaggio in bottiglia mai trovato, e per questo si è meritato un posto nel Guinness dei Primati: ma non perdiamo le speranze, ce ne sono ancora 400 circa che mancano all'appello :-)
1906: this is the year when the bottle was dropped in the North Sea, together with 1019 companions that started their journey in the two previous years.
It was found in Germany at the beginning of the year and mailed back to Marine Biological Association in the United Kingdom, as indicated in the instructions inside.
The MBA was even able to find on eBay an old shilling and ship it as a reward, as stated on the paper contained into the bottle...
For the moment this is the oldest message in a bottle ever found, and for this reason it got a place in the Guinness World Records: but don't lose hope, there are another about 400 that failed to respond :-)
