A Fifth Giant Planet

Agli albori del sistema solare, 4 miliardi di anni fa, poteva esserci un quindi pianeta gigante, oltre a Giove, Saturno, Urano e Nettuno.
Questo pianeta avrebbe "urtato" Nettuno, spingendolo nella sua orbita attuale, ed avrebbe nel frattempo perso alcuni dei suoi satelliti, che sopravviverebbero come un gruppo di rocce ghiacciate raggruppate insieme nella cintura di Kuiper, denominate "kernel"; queste rocce hanno un'orbita molto più regolare delle alte rocce della cintura, e stanno sempre insieme.
Il pianeta misterioso sarebbe poi stato espulso dal sistema solare, forse a causa dell'interazione con gli altri pianeti...

At the dawn of the Solar System, 4 billion years ago, there could have been a fifth giant planet, in addition to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
This planed may have "bumped" Neptune, pushing it in its current orbit, and may have, in the meanwhile, lost some of its satellites, that still survive as a group of icy rocks grouped together in the Kuiper Belt, called the "kernel"; these rocks have a much more regular orbit compared to the other rocks of the belt, and they stick close together.
The mysterious planet could then have been ejected from the Solar System, perhaps because of the interaction with the other planets...
