Dopo 7,5 anni, e quasi 5 miliardi di chilometri, la navetta spaziale Dawn è entrata in orbita intorno a Cerere, il pianeta nano più famoso del sistema solare (per me Plutone rimane un pianeta, e spero che lo reintegreranno presto ufficialmente...).
Non che ci abbia veramente messo tutto questo tempo; si è fermato per un paio di anni ad osservare Vesta, un asteroide gigante.
Ed ora, non ci resta che aspettare le immagini :-)
After 7.5 years, and almost 5 billion kilometers, Dawn spacecraft is now orbiting around Ceres, the Solar System' most famous dwarf planet (to me, Pluto remains a planet, and I hope it will be reinstated shortly, officially...).
Not that it took all this time, really; it stopped for a couple of years to observe Vesta, a giant asteroid.
And now, we have only to wait for the images :-)
