Infatti sui papiri, carbonizzati, si riescono ad identificare lettere e parole, facendo passare un fascio di fotoni generati da un sincrotrone... e chi non ha un sincrotrone a casa?

A library of Roman scrolls, found many years ago in Herculaneum, an ancient town destroyed by Vesuvius together with Pompeii, could be read today, thanks to modern technology.
In fact on the charred scrolls it is possible to identify letters and words, passing through them a beam of photons generated by a synchrotron... and who hasn't got a synchrotron at home?
Apart from jokes, the discovery is really important, and it could supply many information on life in the ancient Rome...
