La NASA ha deciso di spedire una stampante 3D sulla ISS, per provare la stampa 3D in ambiente di microgravità. Se l'esperimento riesce, gli sviluppi futuri saranno importantissimi, perché sarà possibile stampare le parti necessarie alle manutenzioni ed eventuali riparazioni, anche se magari non tutte, direttamente sulla stazione invece che spedirle dalla Terra, con tempi di attesa che si ridurranno da settimane o mesi a ore... ed incremento della sicurezza a bordo :-)
NASA decided to send a 3D printer on the ISS, to test 3D printing in a microgravity environment. If the experiment works, future development will be very important, because it will be possible to print parts needed for maintenance and repairs, even if maybe not all of them, directly on the Station instead of shipping from Earth, with a decrease of waiting times from weeks or months to hours... and increase of on-board safety :-)
