Energy from the Sun

Nel deserto del Mojave in California, sorge una struttura di circa 13  kmq che ospita una stazione di produzione di energia elettrica dal sole, chiamata Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. Si tratta di tre palazzi di 40 piani, circondati da migliaia di specchi che riscaldano contenitori di acqua posti sulla cima dei palazzi stessi. L'acqua riscaldata genera vapore che muove delle turbine che generano elettricità. L'impianto ha una capacità di 392 megawatt o rifornisce di elettricità 140.000 case...

In California's Mojave desert, there is a 5 square miles structure hosting a station producing electricity from the Sun, called the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System. It's made by 3 40-story buildings surrounded by thousands of mirrors warming up water contained in boilers on top to the buildings. The boiling water creates steam, that moves turbines that generate electricity. The facility has a capacity of 392 megawatts and generates enough electricity to power 140,000 houses...
