Un gruppo di ricercatori dell'Università di Copenhagen è riuscito a sequenziare il genoma di un antenato del cavallo contenuto in un osso trovato nel permafrost. L'osso datava tra i 560 ed i 780.000 anni fa, ed è il più vecchio reperto da cui si sia estratto il DNA - il record precedente era di circa 130.000 anni.
A group of researchers from Copenhagen University was able to sequence the genome of an ancestor of the horse, extracted from a bone found in the permafrost. The bone dated back to 560-780,000 years ago, and it is the oldest sample used to extract DNA - the previous record was a sample 130,000 years old.
