John Kheir, un ricercatore di Boston, ha messo a punto un sistema per iniettare in circolo ossigeno circondato da particelle lipidiche, riuscendo a sostenere conigli che non erano in grado di respirare fino a 15 minuti. In particolare l'ossigeno presente nell'iniezione ha sostituito quello che sarebbe stato assunto respirando, consentendo una circolazione normale, seppur per un periodo di tempo limitato.
È un sistema che, quando sarà disponibile e se funzionerà correttamente e passando tutti i necessari test sull'uomo, permetterà di salvare migliaia di vite...
John Kheir, a researcher from Boston, developed a way to inject into the blood circulation lipid microparticles filled with oxygen, managing to keep alive for up to 15 minutes rabbits unable to breath.
